WHO WE ARE:
Women of the church of God
Our Purpose
Our Vision
The vision of Women of the Church of God is to extend the gospel of Jesus Christ, promote spiritual and personal growth, build friendship and interdependence, enlarge vision, encourage the stewardship of all life, embrace the beliefs of the Church of God, and support the united ministries of the Church of God through gifts of finance and leadership.
We are an exciting group of women concerned with sisterhood, service, spiritual growth and global missions. Numerous events are offered each year in the local, state, and national arenas. There
are also many opportunities for service and Christian mission. We support expanded roles for women in church and society; we affirm women in ministry. We are concerned with extending the gospel through growing spiritually sound, biblical women and building a bond between those women and the churches they serve to affect the world for Jesus Christ.
Women of the Church of God began as the vision of one woman and the call of Christ on her life to unite women in an effort to support missionaries and carry the gospel message and the hope of the Savior to the far ends of the earth. Nora Siens Hunter first launched her vision as the National Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society. During the 1932 Anderson Camp Meeting, when the women marched from the tabernacle to the auditorium singing in one voice, "Onward Christian Soldiers", a powerful, passionate, organized and dynamic women's ministry had been born.
From the beginning, these faithful women were concerned with many different aspects of ministry including:
Promoting missions work
Studying spiritual, moral, and social needs of the world
Educating youth
Training leaders
Encouraging stewardship of prayer, personality, and possession.
As you can see, many of our goals and ideals remain the same. We are still supporting missions, at home and abroad. Education and leadership training continue to be chief concerns. And we will ever seek to serve the Church of Jesus Christ, with whatever gifts we have been given.
